On Thursday morning, the Deputy Manager of Barcelona City Council’s Infrastructures and Urban Planning Office, Manuel Valdés, took part in a new breakfast conference run by ASINCA. Fomento de Trabajo’s (National Labour Development) headquarters hosted the event which saw participation from many of ASINCA’s associates. The meeting was presented by ASINCA’s Chairman, Josep Túnica, with the collaboration of the Cámara de Contratistas de Obras de Catalunya (Chamber of Works Contractors of Catalonia).

 Prioritising public transport

In the meeting, Manuel Valdés explained that the Barcelona City Council has prioritised the improvement of public transport. Accordingly, it has again requested that the Ministerio de Fomento (Ministry of Public Works and Transport) finish its works in la Sagrera. The council estimates €5.5m of investment is needed to urbanise the area. Meanwhile, Valdés notes that the council will continue working on projects to cover sections of the Ronda de Dalt ring road and revamp Meridiana street (between Aragón and Sant Andreu Arenal streets). Finally, he noted that changes are projected for the area around Sants train station and that the possibility of two new train stations for the line 10 underground metro is being investigated, as well as the connections between the tram lines.
